We know that there is a real national shortage of science graduates and that we need to prepare pupils for life in a world where Science isn't just central to our everyday life but where it us used to answer fundamental questions about the world in which we live. We want our children to understand that they can play their part as the next generation of scientists and to understand that this can change the world. To do this we need good quality science education in primary schools that builds knowledge, curiosity and a life long love of the scientific questioning and investigation. As a result we signed up to the The Primary Science Quality Mark. This provided staff training and enabled us to look at every aspect of the Science curriculum and the way it is taught and to make changes for the better. We were thrilled that our work was validated and to be awarded the award in June. More importantly we can see how Science teaching is used to inspire our children, develops reasoning and questioning and has enabled them to make sense of the changing world around them. The school is grateful to Mrs Ruddy who led staff in this work and we are thrilled by how much this has impacted upon our pupils.
