Catering

School meals are provided by Caterlink, who prepare, cook and serve from our in-school kitchen, with children eating at tables in the school hall.

Caterlink provide a menu that is packed full of choice, and we encourage all our pupils to eat a rainbow of fruit and vegetables. We want to provide your child with a nutritious meal, but we also want them to have fun! Whether its National baking week or Best of British, Caterlink run themes to bring something new to the table for your child to try. Beyond the dining room, their dedicated Development Chefs offer classes to teach children the basics of cooking as well as food education assemblies in school on the importance of making healthy choices.

Children have a choice of meals each day, plus a pudding, and water to drink. There are staff on hand to provide help if they need it.

Free School Meals

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to free school meals. Children in years 3 – 6 may be entitled to free school meals if you as their parent receive any of the following:

  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit - if you applied after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)

If you think your child may be eligible for free school meals, or if you have any questions about free school meals, please contact the school office, who will be happy to help you.

Food Allergies and Intolerances

Caterlink are committed to providing suitable meals for all children.

If you have any questions about menus or queries relating to your child’s dietary requirements, please speak to the School Office.

Paying for School Meals

We are a Healthy School, and firmly believe in the benefits of having a well-balanced meal at lunchtime. Children in Years 3 – 6 have the choice of paying for a school meal or bringing in a packed lunch from home.

School meals cost £2.55 per day for children in years 3 to 6 who are not in receipt of free school meals (all children in Reception and years 1 and 2 receive the government funded Universal Infant Free School Meals).

Parents of children in all years are required to set up an online account with ParentPay in order to pay for (where applicable) school meals for their child.

If you do not order a school meal on any particular day, we will assume your child will bring a packed lunch from home.
